Hibi is a private AI assistant for iPhone. It keeps a notebook of your days so it can answer questions about your life and help with things, with your OK. Your information is yours: it isn't sold, it isn't used for ads, and you can see, export or have any of it forgotten.
This policy covers the Hibi iPhone app, the Hibi service behind it, and the website gethibi.app. Hibi is currently an invite-only beta.
What Hibi keeps
- Your account. Your name and email address from Sign in with Apple or Google, and a sign-in token for your phone.
- Your conversation. What you write or say to Hibi and its replies, including photos and files you share with it. Voice notes are turned into text on Hibi's own server; the audio isn't sent to any other company.
- Your notebook. Things you tell Hibi or that it learns from your conversation (people, places, preferences), your collections, reminders and plans.
- From your iPhone, only what you turn on (each is optional and can be turned off in Settings):
- Calendar: your events, past and the next five weeks, from the calendars you choose.
- Contacts: names, numbers, emails, addresses and birthdays.
- Reminders: your lists, so Hibi can see, add and tick them off with your approval.
- Health: a daily summary of sleep, steps and workouts.
- Photos: only when and roughly where each photo was taken, so Hibi can find them. Your photos themselves stay on your iPhone.
- Location: places you stay a while, and your rough position, so Hibi knows where you are and what's near. Rough positions are kept for 90 days; places you stayed are kept until you remove them.
- Your calendars, from your iPhone (every calendar on it, with no sign-in), to keep your days and plan your week. Hibi can add, move or delete events on your iPhone when you ask.
How Hibi uses it
Only to be your assistant: to answer you, remember your days, keep your notebook, and do what you ask, such as changing your calendar, filing an email you forwarded, or making a call or a booking. Hibi always asks before it spends, sends or books anything on your behalf. It never uses your information for advertising, never sells it, and never uses it to train AI models.
Hibi is quiet: it sends no notifications. What it has to tell you waits until you open the app.
Who else handles it
Hibi uses a few services to work. Each gets only what it needs for that job:
- Anthropic (Claude) writes Hibi's replies. The parts of your conversation and notebook needed to answer are sent to it each time. Anthropic does not train its models on data sent through its commercial API.
- Google Maps Platform looks up places, opening hours and travel times, which can include your location and the places you ask about.
- Retell places phone calls to businesses when you ask Hibi to call and approve it, with the brief you approved.
- Apple and Google sign you in. Hibi receives your name and email from them, and nothing else from your Apple or Google account. Hibi does not connect to your email; it keeps only the emails you forward to your own Hibi address, encrypted, for a year.
- Tailscale provides the encrypted private network your iPhone uses to reach Hibi.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and keeps the waitlist.
Hibi may share information if the law requires it. Otherwise it is never shared with anyone else.
Google user data
Hibi's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google sign-in gives Hibi your name and email to identify your account. If you connect Google Calendar, Hibi reads your events only to show your days and plan around them; they aren't used for ads, sold, or used to train AI models, and people don't read them except where you ask for help, for security, or as the law requires.
Where it's kept, and who can see it
Your information is kept on Hibi's own server, reached only over an encrypted connection, with each person's information kept apart. During the beta, the person who runs Hibi can technically access the server, and does so only to keep it running, fix problems you report, or as the law requires. Backups, where they're made, are deleted after 14 days.
Your choices
- See it: your notebook in the app shows everything Hibi keeps about you and where each part came from.
- Take it: export your notebook any time as plain notes.
- Correct or forget it: tap anything in your notebook and tell Hibi, or just ask in the conversation.
- Stop sharing: turn off calendar, contacts, reminders, Health, photos or location in Hibi's settings or your iPhone's settings.
- Delete your account: email [email protected]. Your account and everything Hibi keeps about you are deleted within 30 days.
The website
gethibi.app sets no cookies. It counts visits with a one-way code made from your network address and browser that changes daily, so visitors can't be followed from day to day. If you join the waitlist, your email (and any note you add) is kept to invite you, and for nothing else. Ask and it's removed.
Children
Hibi isn't meant for children under 13 and doesn't knowingly keep information about them as users.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it; anything that matters is also said in the app before it takes effect.
